Last week, I kept my winning ways going and while I didn't exactly set the football handicapping world on fire with my 5-3 performance, I did improve my overall record to 46-30 (60.52%) while many people are "losing their face" this 2010-2011 football betting season.

This late in the season, it's time to change "they are who we thought they were" (thanks Dennis Green), in favor of "they are what their record is" (thanks Bill Parcels). For example, many people thought the Bears weren't any good but their record and recent win over the Eagles says otherwise.

But, I'm still picking the Eagles this week and I'll throw in the Bears as well. Add 4 other NFL picks and 4 total for college and I've made 10 football predictions.

I'm making my picks earlier than usual this week, while recent play is still fresh in my memory. Let's see how many of my 10 are winners. My picks start tomorrow for Thursday Night Football. Enjoy and good luck!

Pick # 1------> Philadelphia Eagles -8.5 vs Houston Texans; Thursday December 2 2010 8:20 pm

Don't be fooled by the Eagles' loss to the bears last Sunday. The Bears' defense is ranked 4th in the league. And the Texans shutting out the Titans with their third-string QB is no accomplishment. The Eagles win big at home. Any line under 10 is a bargain.

Pick # 2------> Illinois -5 @ Fresno State; Friday December 3 2010 10:15 pm

Illinois is 8-3 AGAINST THE SPREAD this year, including an impressive 3-1 record ATS in away games. But, more importantly, Illinois is a better team. This might be a blow-out.

Pick # 3------> Nevada -8.5 @ Louisiana Tech; Saturday December 4 2010 3:00 pm

Perhaps Vegas is banking on a Nevada let-down after their monumental win over Boise State last Friday. But I'm not. They seem to be peaking at the right time and should roll all over Tech.

Pick # 4------> Virginia Tech -4 vs Florida State; Saturday December 4 2010 7:45 pm

Virginia tech is 9-3 AGAINST THE SPREAD this year and 9-1 ATS after their opening 2-game skid. I also like Tech's defense and their special teams are always dangerous with Beamer as the coach, especially in a game of this magnitude.

Pick # 5------> Connecticut -2 @ South Florida; Saturday December 4 2010 8:00 pm

South Florida has lost to Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia, all of which Connecticut has beaten. I really like UConn's running game with Todman carrying the ball. Connecticut has been hot lately and are well coached.

Pick # 6------> New Orleans Saints -6.5 @ Cincinnati Bengals; Sunday December 5 2010 1:00 pm

The Saints have put up 30 points or more in each of their last three games whereas the Bengals have averaged only 15.5 points over their last four games, excluding the Buffalo game (where they scored 31 and still lost by 18 points).

Pick # 7------> Chicago Bears -3.5 @ Detroit Lions; Sunday December 5 2010 1:00 pm

The lines-makers seem to have caught up to the Lions (0-3 AGAINST THE SPREAD in last 3 games) while the Bears have been outperforming Vegas' expectations ever since their bye-week. (4-0 straight up and 3-0-1 ATS). Remember, you are your record.

Pick # 8------> St. Louis Rams -3 @ Arizona Cardinals; Sunday December 5 2010 4:15 pm

The Rams are another team that has been a "bettors' darling" with an 8-3 record AGAINST THE SPREAD. Meanwhile, the Cards seem to be in the middle of a meltdown.

Pick # 9------> Pittsburgh Steelers +3 @ Baltimore Ravens; Sunday December 5 2010 8:20 pm

I know the Steelers are pretty beat-up and they haven't looked great lately but I just don't see the Ravens beating the Steelers twice in a row. In a rivalry such as this, I'm going with the team getting points.

Pick # 10------> New England Patriots -3 vs NY Jets; Monday December 6 2010 8:30 pm

Both teams are 9-2. The Pats are undefeated at home. The Jets are undefeated on the road. But the Jets have been barely winning and getting lucky against some sub-par teams recently while the Patriots have been averaging over 38 points in their last 3 games.
